I have been a "Kids Can Sew and Fashion Design" sewing instructor
for three years. I have enjoyed making many of my own clothes and other sewing and crafting projects for more than 30
years. When I was in Junior High School, a lady in my church took the time to teach me and my sister how to sew. I will
always be grateful to her for teaching me a skill that is not only useful but an activity I truly enjoy. I am excited about
passing this skill along to others. I have worked with children for many years, as a preschool teacher,
as well as an AWANA and VBS leader in my church. I have also taught craft projects to women at my church. My favorite thing
about working with children is watching their faces light up when they learn how to do something they didn't know or think
they could do. That's why teaching both kid's and adults how to sew is so rewarding. When
I discovered the "Kids Can Sew and Fashion Design" program, it seemed
to be a great way to combine two things that I love to do (sewing and teaching). It has also allowed me to spend more
time with my family and at the same time to help out financially. I believe, and studies have shown,
that "hands-on" activities such as painting, drawing, sewing, etc. increases creativity in children. These
kinds of activities also help children to develop patience, perseverance, and problem solving skills. I
invited you to join in the fun and learn a lifelong skill in the process. Vinita Meyers Licensed
